Located less than 5 hours from London, Southern Cyprus is one of the most favored vacation destinations of British holidaymakers. Coastal holidays feature plenty of lively beach resorts with busy promenades housing hotels, apartments, restaurants, bars and shops. The beach resorts of Limassol, Paphos, Coral Bay, Ayia Napa, and Larnaca are extremely popular with the 18-30 holidaymakers because of their excellent water sport facilities and nightlife options. Southern Cyprus also has a handful of quiet and secluded beaches that are perfect for sunbathing and relaxing, and generally for those tourists who enjoy low-key entertainment and unhurried lifestyle.
A notable contrast to coastal Cyprus is the old historic quarter of Nicosia and the Troodos Mountain resort. The latter enjoys extreme cold weather in the winters, including a good amount of snowfall to allow skiing and other snow sports. Nicosia has a distinct traditional charm, and its narrow old streets, mid-rise whitewashed buildings and town squares offer everything that is charmingly Greek.
Hotels and resorts in Southern Cyprus retain a good deal of traditionalism, despite their modern styling. You will find most up-market accommodations located along the seacoast, including some in the seaside villages and bigger towns. You can choose between quaint and lavish villas and cottages, or from the wide range of mid-rise apartments on the beach roads and further inland from the coast. A large concentration of budget hotels and apartments can be found in the towns’ central districts. Many comfort stays can also be found within the towns’ residential areas, particularly the rental homes for those who plan to stay long.
