South Africa Getting there and around

Travellers reach South Africa by taking direct or connecting flights. Direct flights from U.K. and U.S. usually take about twelve or more hours. People who are not comfortable with flying for such long duration can take connecting flight from a number of destinations from Europe and U.S.

Direct flights commence from London to Johannesburg, Capetown and Durban. The services are provided by British Airways and SAA (South African Airways). Once you are at your destination there are a number of facilities for getting around. There are internal flights to take you to different cities and sites.

Trains are available, but the journey is often very slow. To make holidays in South Africa more convenient, Intercity bus service and car rental service are provided. Popular intercity bus services are Greyhound, Intercape and Translux. The road network is well organised and public transport is comfortable.
