Sorrento, is a small town in the Campania region, and is a very popular tourist destination. Sorrento is located over steep cliffs and elegantly overlooks the bay of Naples. The small town of Sorrento has an equally small population, and travellers all over the world are intensely attracted to its ethereal serenity, warm engulfing sunshine, and untouched natural beauty. Sorrento also greets its tourists with an enticing fragrance of fresh lemons and oranges. Sorrento is famous for its large lemons and products associated with it, like the lemon liqueur, lemon chocolates etc. Sorrento also offers an unbelievable view of the city of Naples, across the bay.

Serene Sorrento

Sorrento is situated on a Tufa Terrace and is encased by amazing limestone mountain rocks from all sides. Sorrento is a fairly sparsely populated town, which makes it an interesting tourist destination. The effervescent lemony essence, and the calm and beautiful sunsets, magically transforms Sorrento into a serene destination. The fishing harbour of Marina Grande emphasizes the natural quality of Sorrento. Sorrento can be easily accessed from Naples and Pompeii, as it lies in the south-eastern end of the Circumvesuviana rail line.

General Etiquette

The culture of Sorrento is very warm and welcoming. People generally greet each other with a handshake, and friends may kiss the cheeks of one another lightly, as an acknowledgement. If you are at a hotel or restaurant in Sorrento, you might be expected to shell out some extra coins towards a modest tip.
