Santo Antao Getting there and around

You can reach Santo Antao by boat as well as by air. The airport at Ponta so Sol does have flights to Santo Antao but these are not operational if there are strong crosswinds. Thus it is advisable to check with airport prior to planning and booking last minute holidays to Santo Antao. Taxi rides from airport to Ribeira Grande is available and takes around 20 minutes. Santo Antao island has port at Porto Novo from where there is regular ferry to Sao Vicente. Ferries and hydrofoils are the best way to travel in and around Santo Antao. Taxis, aluguers, car rentals etc. are also available to travel within Santo Antao island. These modes of transport makes it convenient to travel between Ribiera Grande and Ponta do Sol.
