A large native population resides in the old parts of Puerto de Santiago. The old town quarters have a motley group of traditional Canarian restaurants and Spanish tapas bars, including some Thai and Mexican eateries, and several shops where you can buy everyday food like bread, cheese, confections, and even local beer. The nightlife in these parts is very low-key, mostly restricted to the restaurants and bars. If you are hoping for late night snacks and booze, you had better try the some of the larger resorts of southern Tenerife.
The Puerto de Santiago beach has few but nice restaurants and cafes. From local seafood dishes to a varied international fare, expect to find something that suits your taste and budget, including a handful of restaurants that keep open till late at night.
However, although the buzz and bustle is more than the old town areas, the beach is still very quiet compared to the boisterous Playa de las Americas. Drive a few minutes from Puerto Santiago to enjoy the latter’s action-packed nightlife.
