The main beach comes equipped with a range of water sport facilities. Swim, snorkel, dive, ski, sail, paraglide, surf or ride a catamaran or banana boat far from Tenerife’s shore to catch glimpses of whales, bottlenose dolphins, hammerhead sharks, and more than 20 different marine species residing in the Atlantic. You can also go bungee-jumping at the Sky Park, visit the Octopus AquaPark with children, or go for day-trips to Santa Cruz, or the neighboring La Gomera.
Playa de las Americas is centrally located, joining Los Cristianos in the east and La Caleta in the west. The resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas are inseparable, except that the former still maintains a good amount of Canarian charm while the latter lacks all of it. Playa de las Americas is an international resort, designed for the international tourist by international investors. In retrospect, it is like a piece of the Canaries without anything remotely Canarian, except maybe the characteristic wondrous weather and splendid volcanic landscape that reminds you that you are not far from Mt. Teide’s snowy peaks or Santa Cruz’s Canarian humdrum.
