Northern Cyprus is notable for its scenic beauty – impressive mountains, lush forests, winding paths and sun-soaked beaches, all come together to make one great holiday destination in the Mediterranean.
Hotels and resorts in Northern Cyprus retain a good deal of traditionalism while offering modern facilities. There are several quaint and lavish villas and cottages along the beach, including mid-rise buildings with apartment rooms. Most first-class resorts are located along the coast, and some in the seaside villages and bigger towns. A large concentration of budget hotels and apartments can be found in the towns’ central districts, surrounded by lovely pedestrian walkways, shops, cafes and restaurants. Many basic comfort options also lie within the towns’ residential areas, particularly the rental homes for those who plan to stay long.
The coastal resort of Kyrenia is a major tourist attraction in Northern Cyrpus. Fine sandy beaches and a romantic harbor attract families and couples alike. Further up from the coast is Kyrenia’s Besparmak Mountains. The charming village nestled in the mountains offers a handful of excellent accommodations. To the east of Northern Cyprus lies the old trade and fishing port of Famagusta. Both a seaside resort and commercial town, it offers a wonderful choice of hotels and inns. Gazimagosa’s seaside resort, in the old fishing village of Iskele, is also well known for its comfort amenities.
Nicosia is the capital city of Northern Cyprus and comes crowded with a barrage of shops, mid-rise hotels and rental homes. The Guzelyurt (Morphou) area is least affected by tourism and is generally lovely if you wish solitude.
