Negombo’s beaches share a large number of restaurants, cafes and bars. Throughout the day till late at night, the waterfront eateries are crowded with holidaymakers. A popular activity during the day is taking pleasant rides on fishermen’s boats. Recreational fishing in the Indian Ocean is also very popular. Negombo’s beaches are loud and colorful. Quieter sands can be located at the nearby Marawila beach and the Chilaw fishing village. These two places are also great for day-trips.

Trips to the Elephant Sanctuary, the ruins of Panduvasnuwara, and Colombo are also immensely popular.
