Therefore, visitors don’t worry too much about your attire. The Portuguese are quite relaxed with social etiquette as long as one is polite and respectful in their actions. It is customary to shake hands when you are introduced to someone and women generally kiss each other on cheeks. An impolite behaviour is to stretch or lick fingers in public. Smoking is wide spread in Lisbon and complaints against it are not well received.
