The beach of Kalkan is rocky and presents some spectacular views. However, there are many secluded bays nearby where you can enjoy swimming at leisure and to your pleasure. The village is situated on a steep slope that leads down to the rock-laden coastline, beach and harbour. Kalkan is a great place to enjoy diving for the many reefs and islands present to view a fascinating variety of marine life, including sharks, dolphins and barracudas. The sea caves near Kalkan are amazing, and include the world-renowned Blue Cave where the waters are naturally illuminated. The glass bottom boat excursions at Kekova are cool too.
Though the Kalkan beaches are not very big but include a Blue Flag public beach, the spectacular world-famous beaches at Patara and Kapitas (only 10 minutes distance) are a short distance away by car. One can also head off to the resorts at Olu Deniz and Patara from Kalkan. The sunken city of Kekova, ancient ruins at Myra and Simena Castle are some of the histories sites worth visiting during Kalkan holidays. The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus at Bodrum and the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus are another two popular sites nearby.
The nightlife scene at Kalkan is quite lively with late night shops, bars and cafés open to cater to you. The rooftop bars and pubs around the harbour are quite exciting and present beautiful views of the small town. The various discos, live music bars and Jazz bars are also good.
