Though the prime attraction of the area is its peaceful serenity, there are a number of attractions that are not worth missing. Some of the favourite Spots are:
The Sun coast Seabird Sanctuary
This sanctuary is a pleasure for all ages. The Seabird Sanctuary is the largest non-profit wild bird hospital in the United States. It was established by a veterinarian and takes in injured wild birds for care and rehabilitation. This place is free to park and free to access, with lockboxes in various locations should you feel like making a donation. It is a lovely wooded space between high rise hotels, and it opens out onto a beautiful beach.
One should try and be here at closing time, sunset, and watch all of the birds fly in from far and wide to roost for the evening. Some birds are hugely injured to be released back into the wild. And are allowed to breed and engage in all their natural behaviours.
Smuggler's Cove Adventure is your typical mini-golf course. It has a pirate ship and caves and an alligator pit. One can actually buy alligator food and feed them.
Town Square Nature Park
A walk through the 800 foot boardwalk tracks of mangrove in the beautiful Florida landscape until you reach the fishing pier is an amazing experience.
The Pinellas Trail
The 34 miles long Pinellas Trail offers residents and visitors a unique chance to enjoy the magnificent nature, full of exotic birds and tropical flowers. One can go on Pinellas trail on in-lines, on foot when walking or jump on your bicycle.
Estelle Harper Park
The Park situated next to the Intracoastal Waterway has a children’s playground and a tennis court. A covered pavilion is available to the public for family or business function. The pavilion has of a choice of two barbeques and a fully equipped kitchen and restrooms.
