Hurghada comprises of the old town of El Dahar in the north, the south Port of Sigala, the New Hurghada further south, and several small tourist villages. Numerous European beach holidaymakers, including Egyptians, Africans and Saudi Arabs crowd Hurghada, especially between months of September and November, and March and May. Egypt’s gateway to the southern diving sites of Safaga, Marsa Alam and Quseir, and being relatively cheaper than its main competitor, Sharm el-Sheikh, the Hughada beach resort attracts near 2 million tourists every year, making it the biggest beach resort on the Red Sea coast.
Since the first Sheraton hotel built in the 1990s on Felfela road, the number of hotels in Hurghada has reached 200. Swanky 5 and 4-star holiday accommodations stretch 40 kms along the beach, offering the best tourist amenities: restaurants and bars, shopping centers and entertainment programs, luxury spas, golf courses, adventure rides, safari trip packages, and water sport facilities. The peaceful and quiet Old Vic Village, the fun and chic Hed Kandi beach, and the small but elegant Elysees Dreams Beach are great picks for varied experiences during your stay at the resort.
Most 4 star accommodations in Hurghada can be found in the Promenade areas, while 3 and 2 star budget hotels are concentrated mainly on the beach road and further inland. Hurghada downtown offers a number of cheap Bread and Breakfast Inns, hostels and boarding options for extremely small budget travelers. Foreign travelers may also find boarding facilities in the Hadaba residential area, across Sheraton Road’s main street, which has a large concentration of European residences.
