Guimar is located 2kms from Tenerife’s eastern coastline. The landscape surrounding Guimar is volcanic in nature. The Guimar Volcano is the region’s most stunning volcanic crater, 60m in depth and 300m in circumference, and has some fantastic adventure trails up the mountain.
Located north of Guimar is the Candelaria, noted for the Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Candelaria. North of the Candelaria lies the beach of Las Caletillas, which is quiet and worth a day’s visit.
Located 10km from Guimar is the Teide National Park. Tenerife’s landscape is dominated by the snow-capped Mt. Teide. The peaks of this huge dormant volcano measures at 3718m above the ground and is the highest in Spain. Cable car rides are available from Teleferico del Teide to La Rambleta. You can also drive the car, 17km around the crater, to experience the sheer magnitude of the Teide.
