Fort Lauderdale is situated at the Atlantic Coast in United States of America’s vibrant Florida. It is the county seat of Broward County. Fort Lauderdale is also fondly called the “Venice of America’, which explains the city being a popular tourist destination. It is called the Venice of America because of its magnanimous canal system. In Lauderdale, tourists can indulge in the luxury sport of yachting as the city is a major centre with about 42,000 yachts and 100 marinas. The name Fort Lauderdale is derived from Major William Lauderdale, who was the commander in charge while building the first fort during the Second Seminole War. Fort Lauderdale is a marvellous coastal city that spreads itself with 23 miles of pristine white sand beaches that make poetry with the Atlantic Ocean exciting your five senses. The economy of the city heavily relies on tourism.

There are two things to keep in mind when in Fort Lauderdale. First always tip people who have served you right from hotel staff to waiters to guides. Waiters should be tipped at 15% of the total bill. Secondly, keep your identity proof safely with you as you have to produce them for security checks.
