Food in this region of Turkey has influences from the Anatolian and Mediterranean cultures. The countryside around Foca grows a great variety of tempting vegetables and the waters are teeming with fish. Foca is a great place to relish some of the freshest fish available in the region. Check out local delicacies such as zerde (sweetened rice with saffron), keskek (boiled wheat with meat) and the Izmir meatballs. Another speciality is the sweet honey pastry called the Boyoz.
