Costa Caleta’s beach is unlike any in Fuertaventura. Most Fuertaventura beaches are volcanic in nature and have black sand. The manmade horseshoe shaped beach of Costa Caleta has been created using fine golden sand. In recent years, the resort has undergone a facelift worth 4 million Euros. The two new beach areas created are great for adults and children, and are close to shops and many beach restaurants and bars. The warm climate makes it perfect for sun lounging and many beach activities.
Costa Caleta’s waters are calm, shallow and wonderful for swimming. One can enjoy several exciting activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, jet skiing, fishing and windsurfing. There are also diving schools for children, and a beginner’s course could be just the thing to keep them engaged.
Costa Caleta’s town has one main street, lined with palm trees and flanked by restaurants, cafeterias, and bars. There are also plenty of low-rise apartments and hotels that range from grand to humble, expensive to cheap, catering to all budget types and traveler tastes.
In the recent years, Caleta de Fuste has been adding more hotels, restaurants and other amenities to cope with the increasing crowd of tourists. The resort has expanded to a fair amount and now has some additional features and amenities not available before. Of these, special mention should be made of the 18-hole golf course and a new shopping place that includes a bowling alley and cinema, designed to the likes of an international shopping mall. The Turkish baths and thalasotherapy centre’s warm water treatments are also fairly new improvisations to the resort.
