In Cocoa Beach, there are many different things to do. The Kennedy Space Center is one of the major attractions in Cocoa Beach. The beach at Cocoa Beach is the perfect place to build a tan or hunt for seashells. You can enjoy a game of volleyball at the beach or go for surf fishing. The beach is dotted with water sport shops from where you can rent sporting equipment and enjoy some outdoorsy activities. The Cocoa Beach has more than 100 of the best surfing spots in the world.
The weather at the beach is perfect for a romantic evening stroll along with your beloved. There are also many ocean front parks in Cocoa Beach. To access the Atlantic Ocean, there are several ‘stub – end’ streets. Each of these street comes with a dune which can be used to cross over. Some of the popular ocean front parks are Alan Shepherd Park, Sidney Fischer Park and Lori Wilson Park.
For tourists, there are many landmarks to see. One of the most popular areas in Cocoa Beach is the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum. This is the first memorial of its kind and is dedicated to all the law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Cocoa Beach also has a thrill park known as the Andretti Thrill Park. This park offers go kart tracks, bumper boats, a mini golf course, batting cages and laser tag. There is also a mini wild - west train. A gamers arcade is also available in the Andretti Thrill Park.
The Brevard Zoo at Cocoa Beach is home to more than 400 animals from all over the world. The main attractions of the zoo are the free flight aviary, a mini train that runs through the zoo, and ‘Paws-On’ an interactive area where you can learn more about your favorite animals.
The Cocoa Beach pier is also another popular tourist destination. The pier stretches over 840 feet and there are several restaurants and gift shops on it. When at Cocoa Beach, you can also visit the largest alligator farm in Florida. However, the chief attraction at the Cocoa Beach is the Kennedy Space Center. This complex is a tourist’s gateway to space. Here NASA prepares space shuttles and launches them. The space center also has a ‘Shuttle Launch Experience’ where tourists can ride a life-like space shuttle and feel how the astronauts feel when they are launched into space. Here you can also walk amongs some of the vintage spacecrafts that are on display.
For those who like the Las Vegas lifestyle, Cocoa Beach has some thing for them too. Port Canaveral is home to the largest casino ship in the world. The Sterling Casino Lines is docked at Port Canaveral. Here you can enjoy life, Vegas style. There are more than 1000 slots and 50 table games. There is also live entertainment and a deli style buffet complimentary for all gamers. The casino is open to all who are above the age of 21 years. The Sun Cruz casinos, is another cruise casino. This vessel has a capacity for 1200 passengers and also has 4 decks. Though smaller than the Sterling Casino, Sun Cruz Casinos have 500 slot machines and 35 table games.
While at Cocoa Beach, tourists can also visit the Thousand Islands. These are accessible through kayaking tours. While you are sailing on a kayak, you can spot an occasional dolphin on the horizon or the Florida Manatee, which is an endangered species. For the outdoorsy kinds, there is the Meritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, where you can hike through the fabulous landscapes and come face to face with some of the animals kept at the reserve.
