Amalfi Holidays

Amalfi is a coastline stretch of the Sorrentine Peninsula in Italy. It extends from Positano to Vietri sul Mare. Amalfi is renowned for its rugged terrain, scenic and picturesque beauty and cultural diversity. The American writer, John Steinbeck, has featured this small town of Amalfi in Positano (1953).

Spectacular Town - Amalfi

Amalfi is a spectacular town along the enchanting coastline of Europe. Terrace farming is popular in Amalfi. Vegetable patches and gardens are cultivated in terraces from centuries ago. In Amalfi, the coastline made it very difficult to construct road lines connecting all the villages. This accomplishment made in 1842, the road around Amalfi now offers breathtaking views. It wings around the mountains at high altitudes. The Amalfi coast is also a convenient base for other tourist attraction places like Pompei, Capri, Napoli and Sorrento coast. The neighbouring villages of Amalfi include the famous Positano, Ravello, Atrani and Scala.

Artists like Ibsen and Wagner drew inspiration and captured the beauty of Amalfi in their masterpieces. In Amalfi, cultivation of olives, vines, citrus fruits are a major source of income. The crafts and the tourism industry kindled the curiosity of the travellers and today, Amalfi is a popular tourist destination.

General Etiquette

Sturdy walking boots and socks are necessary. Carry rucksack, sunscreens, hat, glasses and water for the outdoor activity. In Amalfi, restaurants charge a service bill and coperto (cover charge). Round off the amount and pay the bill. Appreciate the cab drivers and hotel porters by a small tip. In Amalfi, remember to keep the receipt for tax purposes.
