Altea Holidays

The town of galleries, Altea is a wonderful little tranquil village cum resort located at the foot of Sierra de Bernia on the Costa Blanca. It lies bout 15kms north of Benidorm and south of Calpe. The coastal town of Altea is often called “the artists capital of Costa Blanca’, because the narrow streets of this beautiful little town are lined with galleries and workshops of local porters and artists.

The Moors ruled Altea for many years thus their influence can be found till date on the entire region and the town. They were thrown out by the Christian King Jamie the Ist of Aragon in the year 1244. During that time, the city of Altea was a walled city.

General Etiquette in Altea

• When introduced to some one, expect to shake hands.
• It is common to leave 5%-10% tip for services.
• When tipping, you should always include the bartender in a bar, waiter in a restaurant, an attendant, a taxi driver and the hotel cleaning staff.
