·         Sightseeing tours from Alleppey include the Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple and the Alleppey beach along with its nineteenth century lighthouse. The Ambukuthis Hills and the Eddakal Caves are good walking spots.

·         Cycling and horse riding are great ways to explore the countryside during your Alleppey holidays. Guided cycling tours are offered by some tourist companies.

·         Kerala is one of the main wildlife and bird-watching places in India. The wetlands attract migratory birds from far and wide. The Pathiramanal Island (Vembanad Lake) and the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary are recommended spots.

·         The famous snake-boat race which happens annually in Alleppey is a crowd puller. Held on the second Saturday of every August, the race is a great watch and is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Alleppey. More than a hundred oarsmen man the splendid snake-boats which were used as battleships in the past.    

·         Relive the bygone era by visiting the Krishnapuram Palace, the Kanakakkunu Palace, the Chettikulangara Bhagawathy Temple (houses the huge 1000-candle granite oil lamp), Sree Krishna Temple, Karaumadikuttan Buddha, Chavara Bhawan and the Church of St Sebastian.

·         The colourful and exciting festivals that you can catch on your Alleppey holidays include the 10-day Adoor Gajamela at the Sree Parthasarthy Temple which showcases the beautifully adorned elephants among other things. The dances at the Chettikulangara Bhagawathy Temple, the traditional crafts and elephant processions at the Sree Krishnaswamy Temple Festival, the snake-boat races, harvest festivals and water battles are other highlights.
