Albir Holidays

Sandwiched between Altea and Benidorm on the northern Costa Blanca in Spain, Albir is a small town cum resort in the region of Alfaz del Pi. Unlike the busy and fast moving life of Benidorm, Albir holidays are popular with tourists looking for a quieter option. Albir holidays offer some great beaches and a good resort with numerous facilities.

Albir was originally called “L’Alfas de Polop” because of its associations with the Barony of Polop. The word ‘Alfas’ actually means “sown land”. Albir was settled by the Moors who developed agriculture in the region producing grape vines, almonds, olives and various other varieties of fruits. In the year 1836, Albir was declared a municipality. With the success of Benidorm in the 60’s and the 70’s, Albir too basked in its success and soon became an accomplished resort and thus triggered a massive rush for holidays in Albir.

Albir does not have big hotels or sky rise dwellings. The town has matured from a small tiny community to a perfect beach holidays destination. Today, Albir boasts of five huge super markets namely Lidl, Eroski, Mendoza, Albir and Mercadona.
